Anna Rapson is the print and surface pattern designer behind Home by Bear. (Having been called Bear by her family her whole life, for reasons unknown to her.) She can work with a range of scales, she creates large scale murals alongside smaller repeat pattern designs. Inspired by the natural world that surrounds us, Anna interprets landscapes in a unique way. She focuses on organic shapes and simplifies scenes as she translates them through an innocent style of drawing and painting.
Unafraid of bold colour, Anna is drawn to the range of colours found in nature, she uses a range of mediums, watercolours, acrylics, pen and occasionally oil pastel to capture the colour before digitally enhancing images. Anna likes to experiment with layers in photoshop to combine digital drawings with original watercolour paintings merging the textures and very different effects of the two techniques.
Through training at Bath Spa University, Anna has a good understanding of all aspects of textile design, including embroidery and knit, as well as screen and digital print.
Anna is very passionate about nature and it inspires her everyday, combined with her sense of style and use of colour it allows her to create unique pattern and surface designs.
